Are you really determined to stop smoking?
I was a heavy smoker from the age of 16, up to '35/40 a day' habit...
I smoked in bed (yuk), in the home, in the car, anywhere and everywhere. I felt I was a 'healthy smoker' (is there such a thing?) as I didn't have a cough and didn't spend the morning coughing up in the bathroom like others did!!
I never thought I would be any different but then I started - at the age of 34 - to get a niggly irritated little cough, more of a gruntreally, and it started to 'bother' me that I was a smoker and that I wouldn't get away with it forever... (meaning that I would not be killed by smoking!)
I was aware that I had spend the whole of my kids growing up years stinking like an ashtray! I didn't think I smelt of smoke but everyone else who smoked did so clearly I was delusional...
So, my niggly grunting started to worry me a little more and I decided I must stop smoking (knowing I had tried and failed so many times it was laughable!!).
On my previous attempts I really could have smoked anything, including the dogs ear if it had given me relief from the pain or quitting! Each time I stopped, or tried, I felt out of my depth; it literally made me cry, shout and be miserable and then something would happen and I would run to the shop and buy cigarettes again, and again, and again...
I quit smoking succesfully in 2007, and used hypnotherapy to assist me. I have not thought about being a smoker since, and have been in MANY stressful situations where smoking would have been the easy option before. This success can be YOURS too!
I still think it is funny how a devout smoker who really enjoyed smoking could give up and still not be interested in smoking ever again!
