As we walk into 2021 after an extremely challenging year, it can be hard to shrug off the negative energy we've accumulated over the last 12 months. We are not able to control what's going on in the world around us, however, we do get a choice in how we respond and react to it.
Negative energy can weigh us down and can make challenging events even harder to deal with. Of course, it is unrealistic to remain positive all of the time, however, removing negative energy can make us feel less heavy.
Most of us are currently glued to the news more than ever. And while it is important to keep up to date on current affairs, be mindful of how much time you are dedicating to consuming negative and distressing news. Perhaps find alternative outlets that are providing more light hearted/easy watching content. This will allow you to absorb the key information whilst taking care of your own wellbeing.
Say Goodbye to your Inner Critic
Let 2021 be the year that you begin to love yourself. When you start to notice your inner criticism, quieten the voice and turn it into kindness. Be your own best friend as this will bring you positive energy when you are unable to receive it from others.
The More You Complain, The More You Drain
Sometimes you need to give yourself some tough love... do you find yourself complaining out loud when something mildly inconvenient has happened? Of course, it is important to get things off of your chest and I encourage you to do so. However, make sure you choose your battles, as getting yourself riled up over minor things can really consume you. Instead, count to 10 and decide whether you want to give the topic your precious time!
Let your interactions in the upcoming week have a positive impact on you. Consume positive media (and keep the news present but at a distance). Practise a little more self love and let go of those negative habits that weigh you down xx
